The Ferris wheel of a VIP visit to Delhi
I was the Air Force One wheel which touched ground at IGI when Bill C. landed
The red carpet ,it was extended to the runway
The menu my master would slurp over was served in ink to the newspaper consumers
The beggars were banished to the storage rooms away from the route plan of master
Them goras would see but the best and talented the land produced
This land apparently invented zero and the hostesses at the 10 star hotel were the same size
Master was pleased and even said "Bahut acchcha"
Time has passed and master is now Obama
And the Tories too have lost at the hustings
And Delhi will play host to the Commonwealth Games
The beggars who returned have been re-packaged and sent again to the storage room
The mascot was seen in DU while the admission forms were being sold
And my giant cousin, the London Eye tells that the Queen won't be coming to inaugurate
Not a problem, the Metro rail construction schedules are on time
The stadium tenders ,it is said, has finally been narrowed down to the Final Fat Cats
The Officials even gave a facelift to the red light area
I was the Air Force One wheel which touched ground at IGI when Bill C. landed
The red carpet ,it was extended to the runway
Later in the month, the Post Colonial Literature seminar at India Habitat Centre was the place to be
Arduous sentences over why we bend over backwards
Something about Asian mentality, Pakistan's GDP vs ours and Salman Rushdie
I heard from my Ferris-wheel of a distant cousin in a village fifty kilometer away from Delhi
That beggars were whiling away their time
Before the swimming and cycling was done
And they could return to their favorite spot near the traffic light and places of worship
I was the Air Force One wheel which touched ground at IGI when Bill C. landed
The red carpet ,it was extended to the runway.
